Oma's Cottage is For Sale!
Healing, Meditation or Writer's Retreat

It's time to pass the torch and sell Oma's Cottage. Oma often spoke of anchoring the light in a place and this little cottage on San Juan Island was her last and most permanent manifestation of love. So if you have a need to step out of the hustle and bustle of every day life and center yourself in the quietude of San Juan Island, maybe this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Nestled in the speckled shade of majestic Douglas Firs, the western exposure of the deck offers views of spectacular sunsets across the bay, without the relentless heat of the summer sun. Perfectly suited to the Pacific North-West climate this cottage is sheltered in winter and stays cool in summer. The morning sun illuminates the master bedroom with its own outside entrance to a slate patio, while the evening sun streams horizontally across the expansive deck and through the living room to brighten your late afternoon and evening. Eating dinner and entertaining outside, quickly become summertime rituals.

The large ensuite bathroom has a walk-in shower, Jacuzzi bath tub and double sinks. A second bathroom includes a tub shower, washer and dryer. The kitchen is part of the open concept living room and has a dishwasher, stove and fridge. High vaulted ceilings with radiant glulam beams complete the picture.

There are plum, cherry and apple trees on the property and the lot next door is available as well to afford you extra privacy or a chance to build a second home for resale. Of course there is also the beauty of nature all around. English camp, a National Historic Park, is just a short walk down the road and it connects to many miles of trails up and down the hillsides and along the shores of Garrison Bay. Being on an island there is no big game like bobcats or bears to worry about and mosquitoes are rare, seldom interfering with your outdoor enjoyment.

Launch your kayak or dinghy on the private beach access to Westcott Bay. Tie your boat at the private mooring ball visible from the kitchen. Or you can rent a kayak for the day at Roche Harbor resort just a mile down the road. While there you can listen to the noon bells as Oma used to, enjoy the Spa, or have lunch at the Lime Kiln Cafe. There is so much to explore on San Juan Island.

There is a fantastic farmers market every Saturday in Friday Harbor, the nearest town just ten miles away, featuring a great variety of locally grown organic produce. And there are many fabulous restaurants in Friday Harbor and nearby Roche Harbor as well.

Whether you find your muse on the mountain during a morning hike or enjoy a leisurely brunch on the cedar deck, the cacophony of birdsong in spring or the doe showing off her spotted fawn in summer will be your constant companions. There is nothing so tranquil as watching the dragonflies contrasted by a clear blue sky or Bald Eagles soaring high overhead. Let the magic of this place transport you to an inner stillness filled with gratitude for life's simple pleasures.
